Job Summary

The Governance and Reporting team within Group Risk Management (GRM) Retail Risk is hiring a Risk Analyst Intern to successfully execute initiatives related to RBCs retail businesses while supporting business management and risk reporting activities.

What do we do?

Within Group Risk Management, we:

  • Act as the quarterback for GRM experts, synthesizing and translating their perspectives and feedback to practical and effective risk advice to the business, while supporting the business to achieve speed-to-market.

  • Ensure GRM relationship managers and other GRM experts are engaged appropriately and are kept in the loop throughout the product development cycle/risk assessment process.

  • Seen as a trusted and respected partner by key stakeholders in GRM and the business, adding value through expertise and a solution mindset with win-win outcomes.

  • Offer clear guidance to help the business navigate complex risk and/or compliance issues.

  • Work with partners to build risk framework considerations and behaviours in business routines and mindset.

  • Actively promote a strong risk culture and understanding of risk appetite though interactions and demonstrated activities.

What will you do?

  • Perform ground up research and analysis, and assist in preparing clear, concise and insightful reporting on top and emerging risks impacting the business.

  • Support the team to successfully execute business management activities including, for example, the planning and execution of senior management meetings and events.

  • Gain organizational exposure to see how we protect the bank by ensuring safety and soundness while helping promote a strong risk-aware culture across RBC.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or law.

  • Strong work ethic with exceptionally strong growth mindset curious and desire to learn and go beyond what is asked, and flexibility to experience and learn from different experiences and people.

  • General understanding and awareness of current global events, emerging technologies and basic economic concepts.

  • Excellent verbal and business writing skills, with the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders.

  • Positive attitude, collaborative mindset and strong relationship building.

  • PowerPoint and Excel skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Prior experience in or knowledge of the financial industry is an asset.

Please note:This posting is for a 4-months Summer 2025 Student placement with a start date of May 2025, and end date of August 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2025 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2025), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
