What is the opportunity?
The Associate Director in the Enterprise Risk, Regulatory Capital Governance & Oversight team is a key role in the efficient management and coordination of RBCs annual Self-Assessment Process (SAP). The position adds value by providing subject matter expertise on OSFIs Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR) and other jurisdictions deemed in scope in the area of regulatory capital and reporting, monitoring the scope of such applicable requirements across RBC and providing review and effective challenge in coordinating the compliance assessment reviews.
The Associate Director will also contribute to the effective challenge of self-assessments conducted for new model applications or modifications. This role is, therefore, critical to providing RBC with significant financial benefits through the ability to achieve regulatory approval on new models. The incumbent will also participate in a number of projects designed to enhance RBCs program supporting regulatory capital model compliance. Activities include managing schedule, scope, requirements, and sometimes high levels of complexity with multiple and competing demands and priorities.
Moreover, the Associate Director may also participate in the coordination and compilation of information from various RBC teams, preparation of (both periodic and ad-hoc) reports, and drafting of communications for regulator(s),
What will you do?
- Assist the planning, setup, and execution of the Banks OSFI Self-Assessment Process (SAP) across selected risk types (Credit, Market and/or Counterparty Credit Risk).
- Manage relationships with 1st & 2nd line partners; help business colleagues and partners understand the OSFI Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR) and expectations regarding the SAP process.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the Enterprise Policy on Self-Assessment Processes and Procedures for Maintaining the Self-Assessment Process.
- Prepare or assist in the development of presentations and other material for senior management and regulators.
- Effectively manage the SAP Tool to support adherence with OSFIs Capital Adequacy Requirements and other regulatory requirements applicable and make recommendations to improve and automate processes.
- Work with stakeholders to increase the adoption rate on the SAP Tool by providing change management support including facilitation of training sessions
- Act as the central point of contact for interactions on Operational Risk team and completing BAU activities required in support of ICMP (e.g. reviewing, updating risk controls, completing annual risk control testing, etc.)
- Consistently seeks opportunities to simplify processes.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Working knowledge of OSFIs Capital Adequacy Requirements.
- Experienced in managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Comfortable challenging the nature and quality of assessments provided by colleagues throughout RBC.
- Superior impact and influence skills with proven track record of building strong relationships
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to both graspbig pictureandhaverigorous attention to detail
- Knowledge of industry best-practices on self-assessments against regulatory capital model guidelines.
- 5+ years of experience in the financial services sector.
Niceto Have
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in Market, Credit or Counterparty Credit Risk.
- Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- CFA, FRM or professional designations.
