The RBC Dominion Securities Hamilton branch is currently seeking an experienced Financial Planner to join a successful team. In this role, the Financial Planner will work directly with a group of high-net-worth clients, providing wealth management services including creating and presenting comprehensive plans, engaging in tax and estate planning, and coordinating with other RBC Wealth Management professionals. You must have a genuine passion for helping people reach their financial goals, and for working as a part of a team.

What will you do?

  • Develop comprehensive, personalized financial plans for high-net worth clients including retirement, estate and tax strategies

  • Collaborate with an established team of internal experts and external advisors to coordinate/advise on our clients wealth management needs

  • Educate clients on financial planning concepts and risk management

  • Work with an exceptional support team to follow a service plan for proactive and a high level of client service, direct client contact in person, by phone and/or video.

  • Identify opportunities for asset consolidation and referrals

What do you need to succeed?
Must Have

  • 5 years+ of professional experience within the investment industry in a client facing role (other relevant experience may be considered)

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH) (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire date)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, to effectively understand clients needs, goals and concerns

  • Passion for building client relationships and providing high level advice and service

  • Attention to detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills


Nice to Have

  • Other professional designations (accounting, Chartered Financial Analyst)

  • Post-secondary degree
