What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a passionate and experienced storyteller who can build strong relationships and deliver results. As Senior Manager, Diversity & Inclusion Communications, you will support RBCs global D&I portfolio and be a key contributor to RBCs Brand, Marketing, Communications and Citizenship (BMCC) group. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our D&I narrative both internally and externally. You will be responsible for developing communication strategies that build a culture of inclusivity and belonging, while reinforcing RBCs commitment to D&I in alignment with our Purpose Framework.

Working closely with stakeholders across HR and BMCC, you will help embed our core values of D&I across our communications enterprise wide, driving impactful storytelling that amplifies RBCs commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce and community.

*Please note this is a 18-month contract opportunity.

What will you do?

  • Develop, lead, and implement communications strategies that support RBCs commitment to D&I.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR, BMCC, and other key stakeholders to align D&I initiatives with RBCs broader communications objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape, edit, and deliver impactful communications, including leadership messages, town hall materials, social media and storytelling content.
  • Research, develop, execute and evaluate communications strategies that reflect the complexities of RBCs diverse audiences and respond to the evolving external environment.
  • Monitor and identify potential reputational risks, developing and implementing strategies that mitigate these risks while enhancing RBCs brand.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to business partners, taking into account business priorities and regional differences.
  • Support the development of key messages, speaking notes or presentations for senior leaders.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of D&I communications processes, leveraging analytics and feedback to evolve strategies that are innovative, measurable and effective.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • At least 5-10 years of communications, public relations or public affairs experience.
  • Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, English or related field or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in written and verbal communications skills, with sensitivity to the nuances of communicating in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to create and execute strategic communications that reflect D&I priorities and engage audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Advanced project management skills, with a strong orientation toward achieving results within deadlines.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing communications capabilities across diverse teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience working within the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with managing external and internal communications that shape brand and reputation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media best practices and the ability to tailor content to various audiences.
  • Data/business analytics training, degree, or certificate.
  • Ability to coach individuals and teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
