What is the opportunity?
An exciting opportunity to join the Technology & Operations (T&O) Corporate Communications team, the Senior Manager, Executive and T&O Communications will develop and execute internal and external communications activities to support the CIO/Group Head, T&O. Contributing significantly to the strategic planning of these activities, you will provide counsel to the CIO/Group Head and develop communications including researching and writing speeches, briefing materials and employee messages, and managing large-scale, employee events such as the global T&O Town Hall. Additionally, you will be a people manager and have oversight of internal communications and channels to engage over 10,000 global Tech@RBC employees.
What will you do?
- Provide strategic communications counsel to the CIO/Group Head, T&O, including researching and writing speeches, briefing materials and employee messages
- Deliver engaging, creative employee town halls and other internal events, including speaker preparations, presentations and video content
- Ensure CIO/Group Head, T&O events are leveraged internally and externally to build brand awareness, enhance reputation and engage employees
- Identify proactive internal and external opportunities to build a profile for the CIO/Group Head, T&O, while contributing to the business and functional objectives of the bank
- Oversight of T&O internal communications and channels, including the T&O newsletter, T&Onet and T&O Connect, engaging over 10,000 global Tech@RBC employees
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders across T&O, RBC and external partners to align activities and maximize benefits for the organization
- Anticipate and manage reputational risks, assisting with rapid and effective responses as required
- Contribute to the success of the RBCs Brand, Marketing, Communications and Citizenship goals and objectives
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate degree/post-graduate certificate or equivalent in communications, public relations, journalism, English or a related field
- 7+ years of communications experience
- Extensive experience providing strategic communications advice and developing content for senior executives
- Strong internal and external communications experience including proactive media relations and speech writing
- Ability to meet consistently high standards of quality while handling a variety of projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of communications and social media principles and best practices
Nice-to-have
- Experience managing highly-engaged and skilled employees
- Strong project management knowledge and time management capabilities
- Demonstrable passion for technology and/or financial services industry
