What is the opportunity?
Provides information on the detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments. Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Developer in a techno-functional (both business/technical) capacity? You will be working within the Finance & Audit IT team at RBC, helping support the backbone of a large enterprise applications.
What will you do?
The role will be a techno-functional analyst as you work primarily as a liaison between our business and technology partners situated around the world
Assess business requirements and recommend solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs, continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients
Develop technical solutions to achieve business requirements
Lead and facilitate working sessions and business interviews to achieve clarity on various business objectives
Identify and resolve business systems/technical issues
Create and review technical design documents related to small projects and understand how the design will be used in the code development process
Coordinate design phases for small projects, identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues
Participate in walkthrough reviews of technical specifications, programs and unit test plans
Provide estimates on activities/tasks required to perform design, coding and unit testing, improving accuracy over time
Performance tuning to improve performance of the single function
Low-level planning of work packages meeting project objectives within budget and on time
Provide third-level support of applications, databases etc.
Facilitate small group meetings for technical design, problem-solving and task implementation
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Experience in (C#/.NET, Python, SQL), UNIX/Windows OS, databases
Undergraduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, engineering, or technology
Solution-oriented mindset
Customer service oriented with effective interpersonal skills
Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Nice-to-have
Experience in platforms (OpenShift Cloud, Docker, Apache AirFlow), Tableau, and various code management/devops (CI/CD) tooling
Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, detail oriented project environment
Critical, analytical thinker that leverages innovative ideas
Experience or understanding of web technologies, frameworks, middleware technologies, and/or design techniques and tools
Ability to hand-code all components
Knowledge of software fundamentals: networking, security, domains, IP infrastructure, server operating systems, and domain registration standards, as well as an understanding of IT Standards, Methodologies, and auditing requirements
