WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This position will be a z/OS System Programmer with a focus on implementation and exploitation of new technologies on the Mainframe. Introduce and work to exploit the new capabilities in the operating system and new products such as Ansible, ZOWE, Python, and others as they become available.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Install, deploy, and support mainframe products plus focus on modernization.

  • Explore POC (Proof of Concept) opportunities.

  • Investigate and work on adoption of new technologies such as Mainframe AI technologies, ZOWE, Ansible, Python, Analytics tools, etc.

  • Work with infrastructure teams to find useful features in existing products that should be exploited.

  • Assist with existing modernization tools such as Data Virtualization Manager, Machine Learning, Open Data Analytics.

  • Test and troubleshoot tools and resolve issues.

  • Liaise with the various support teams in Production Mainframe Services, Mainframe Operating Systems group, application development groups, and any other clients of supported products.

  • Direct research, identify and make recommendations on exploitation of new feature / function of supported vendor software.

  • Develop criteria for and participate in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software.

  • Provide expertise and software management and support skills for mainframe products.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • 10+ years of mainframe experience installing and supporting software products.

  • Experience installing and supporting mainframe products.

  • Strong interest in mainframe and modernization.

  • In depth knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E

  • In depth knowledge of REXX, CLIST, COBOL, Java, SQL, other mainframe programming languages.

  • Ability to roll up the sleeves and dig into products.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Teamwork attitude.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ZOWE, Ansible, Python, Analytics tools, Node.js, z/OSMF, etc.
