RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting directly to and under the general direction of the Principal, the Chaplaincy Leader is responsible for caring for the faith journey process of the staff and high school students in the School Community, acting as resource and counsellor, and making the sacraments available via parish priests.
THE CHAPLAIN WILL:
Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and students to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters spiritual growth and well-being
Develop positive relationships between School and Church communities
Facilitate the Liturgical Life of the school community
Build relationships with youth and adults that lead to their personal growth in Jesus Christ
Provide opportunities for celebrating the sacraments and faith formation of the school community, including facilitating staff in-service, retreats and celebrations while serving as a liaison with the parishes attached to the school
Lead, promote and collaborate in social justice and charity initiatives within the school community and connect with the wider community, both local and globally on such initiatives

Honour the Equity Planning Strategy and Strategic Commitments of the Board
Facilitate prayer at staff meetings
Encourage personal growth in faith and lay vocation on the part of the staff
Act as staff resource for classroom prayer and liturgy
Make sacraments available via parish priests
Encourage the growth of the caring, Catholic school community
Act as role model through presence, sharing, witness and celebration
Establish a youth ministry team and leadership program at the school and parish levels
Develop a social action program for the school where students live what they learn
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies, Religious Education, Theology or equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience in pastoral work
Current involvement in a Catholic parish
A background which includes leadership experience in youth ministry and adult faith
A demonstrated commitment to their faith and the Catholic community
Proven organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment;
Valid Ontario Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle
