Job Description

Reworld is seeking a skilled and experienced Hazardous Waste Technician III to join our team. The successful candidate will have completed Reworld Hazardous Waste Technician III training or possess equivalent experience. The primary responsibility of this role is the safe management, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste. The Technician III will take on leadership responsibilities, ensuring the proper identification, treatment, and processing of hazardous waste materials while maintaining full compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. This role requires a seasoned professional with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in hazardous waste management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead hazardous waste management projects from start to finish, ensuring proper planning, resource allocation, and compliance with all Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and other relevant hazardous waste standard

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles for hazardous waste transport, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and equipment (tires, brakes, fluids, etc.) and ensuring all hazardous materials are properly secured for transport, and serving as the primary point of contact for the Hazardous Materials Supervisor and onsite customers during pickups

  • Oversee teams conducting hazardous waste clean-up and decontamination activities, including confined spaces

  • ·Manage and operate specialized waste equipment such as pressure washers, and forklifts with advanced competency and minimal supervision.

  • Perform complex lab packing duties (packing and de-packing), including on customer sites with minimal supervision.

  • Perform complex hazardous waste treatment processes, including chemical neutralization, stabilization, consolidation (including into bulk tankers) and waste segregation, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

  • Coordinate and conduct hazardous waste sampling, laboratory analysis, and accurate data entry to support regulatory documentation and reporting

  • Develop and implement safety procedures and training for junior team members, ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Requirements:

  • Completed Reworld Hazardous Waste Technician III training or equivalent experience in hazardous waste management.

  • 3-5 years of experience required, with a strong background in hazardous waste handling, disposal, and regulatory compliance.

  • Valid Class G Driver’s License (or equivalent), with experience in handling and transporting hazardous materials.

  • In-depth knowledge of hazardous waste regulations, including TDG, Regulation 347, OHSA, and other relevant environmental safety standards.

  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing field teams in hazardous waste environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of compliance and safety.

  • Clean driving record, background check, and employment history review.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Ability to lift/move 50+ lbs.

  • High school diploma required; additional certifications in hazardous waste management or college diploma in chemistry or environmental sciences are a plus.
