The Opportunity
RVS invites applications for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/wk) Employee Health and Abilities Coordinator position starting immediately in the Human Resources department. The Employee Health and Abilities Coordinator effectively facilitates the claims management processes for all Rocky View Schools (RVS) employees, with the goal of promoting and prioritizing employee health and wellbeing. The Employee Health and Abilities Coordinator liaises with employees, insurance providers, health care professionals, supervisors, HR team members, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include
Serves as the primary point of contact for employees on sick leave, extended disability, and Workers Compensation (WCB)
Supports aspects of employee attendance focusing on WCB, sick leave, and extended disability leaves
Advises employees about sick leave and extended disability benefit programs, as well as early intervention, accommodation and stay at work strategies
Initiates online sick leave and disability claims and maintains records including documenting all case related activities, health records, and claims paperwork with the utmost confidentiality and discretion
Refers employees to Occupational Injury Services and arrange assessments for WCB eligible claims
Monitors all incoming medical documentation and claims related correspondence
Liaises with the internal stakeholders and appropriate insurance providers in a timely manner to ensure medical updates, return to work plans, accommodations, abilities, limitations, and/or restrictions are communicated clearly
Coordinates and monitors employee return to work plans and
Conducts ergonomic assessments as required
Actively reviews reports and analyzes trends to identify key employee performance indicators with reference to employee health and wellness
Proactively identifies ways the work environment can be adapted to fit the capacity of employees with restrictions or limitations
Supports the ongoing development, promotion and facilitation of employee attendance and wellness programs
Education/Experience
Certificate or diploma in disability management or related field
Minimum of two (2) years' experience managing employee disability and/or return to work cases
Previous experience in a school division or unionized environment is considered an asset
Experience supporting employee health and wellness would be an asset
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of complex and sensitive issues professionally and in a timely manner
Ability to coach and counsel employees and supervisors effectively utilizing outstanding verbal/written communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients
Proven accuracy and consistency with data entry and case file management
Highly effective organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
Working knowledge of HR best practices, and applicable legislation would be considered an asset
