The Opportunity RVS invites applications for a temporary, full-time (40 hrs/wk - afternoons) Building Operator III position starting immediately until April 28, 2025 at Rainbow Creek Elementary & Prairie Waters Elementary School. Under the supervision of the Head Building Operator (HBO), the Building Operator provides caretaking services at their assigned Rocky View Schools (RVS) facilities. The Building Operator acts as the evening Supervisor and is responsible for leading a team that keeps school buildings, grounds, contents, and furnishings in good appearance, and in clean, tidy, sanitary condition, as assigned by the HBO. In addition, the Building Operator may be asked to support minor maintenance duties and manages the security of the facility and building systems at all times while at work. For more information regarding this school, please visit their website at https://rcreek.rockyview.ab.ca/ Responsibilities; Engages actively in janitorial duties, including cleaning of the school and the grounds (90 % of this position is cleaning) Reports any defects, damages, or loss of school property to the Head Building Operator May coordinate cleaning duties of caretakers Keeps all sidewalks, steps, and entrances free from ice and snow as assigned Ensures temperatures in the school building are maintained during the shift Checks on the proper operation of heating, plumbing, and electrical systems; reports any problems promptly to the Head Building Operator Security duties as assigned Assists the HBO in orientation and training of new employees and relief help Education/Experience High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a Caretaking setting 3-5 years previous caretaking/cleaning experience Valid Alberta operators license (class 5) Valid Building Operator A or B Ticket or a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate is considered an asset Certifications from cleaning organization is considered an asset Previous experience within a school division is considered an asset Knowledge/Skills Working knowledge of proper cleaning procedures Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision Effective supervisory skills, including training, and delegating Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Other Requirements Must be available to work afternoons and evenings during peak periods within the year Must be available to work the day shift with prior notice, approximately 1-2 days per month, as well as during school closures (Winter break, Spring break, Summer break) Rocky View Schools Benefits 3 weeks vacation As this is a temporary position there is no employer paid sick time, pension, or benefits Rocky View School employees who are ineligible for employer paid benefits may access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost Professional development and training opportunities Free parking Pre-Employment Requirements In order to be selected as a candidate for an interview, candidates must submit proof of qualifications/education as required by the position The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment Open to: Internal and External applicants Salary: $29.16 - $31.26 per hour How to Apply We request all applications be placed through http://rockyview.simplication.com/.
