Our expectations

Reporting to the Distribution Services Manager, as a Distribution Services Analyst within our network of distribution centers, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing returns from stores. You will be responsible for coordinating the return of merchandise, pallets, and recyclable containers while ensuring thorough analysis of performance indicators and effective communication with stores and the store supply team.

The role of Distribution Services Analyst or Specialist is a key collaborator for distribution center managers, the demand and supply management team, as well as store teams, acting as a leader in monitoring “WIRE Task” projects executed by store operations. Additionally, the analyst/specialist will analyze transactions and track the CHEP program weekly to ensure accuracy during audits (counts) by our CHEP pallet supplier.

Your role

  • Monitor the processing of merchandise returns, including verification, documentation, and sorting of returned products.
  • Coordinate with teams for the restocking of returned products or their proper disposal.
  • Manage return documentation to ensure complete traceability.
  • Organize the receipt and inspection of returned pallets, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize the return to vendors pallets in consignation and validate the transactional credits.
  • Oversee and monitor the collection, sorting, and processing of returned recyclable containers.
  • Ensure proper storage and preparation of containers for recycling or reuse.
  • Collaborate with waste management partners to comply with environmental regulations.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators related to returns, such as return rate, processing time, and cost per return.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement through regular reporting.
  • Propose corrective actions based on analyzed data to optimize return processes.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for stores regarding returns, ensuring smooth and effective communication.
  • Resolve return-related issues in collaboration with stores, ensuring satisfaction for both parties.
  • Organize periodic meetings with stores to discuss performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with the store supply team to synchronize returns with restocking needs.
  • Ensure proper management of stock levels and forecasts considering merchandise returns.
  • Establish procedures to ensure that returns do not disrupt product supply.
  • Analyze return processes to identify potential improvements to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Implement practices and procedures to optimize the management of returns and recyclable containers.
  • Maintain continuous oversight to adapt processes based on market developments and business needs.
  • Ensure that all return operations comply with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards throughout the return management process.

The qualifications we are looking for

  • Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a similar role in logistics or returns management is an asset.
  • Data analysis skills and proficiency in performance indicator analysis tools.
  • Experience with a warehouse management system (WMS) (a significant asset).
  • Experience with SQL server (an asset).
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications, including Excel and Access.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with stores and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of return management procedures, pallet reuse, and recycling practices.
  • Proficiency with IT tools and return management systems.
