Our expectations

Reporting to the National Director, Distribution Planning & Systems, the Inventory Manager is primarily responsible for the inventory management planning and the other margins budget. The scope includes the Distribution Centers network within Canada and Direct Delivery Centers. This role will support the Distribution Centers operations and act as the internal point of reference for all inventory matters, liaise with all department mandates by managing effective and efficient communications, and ensure efficient inventory management and cost effectiveness.

The Manager, Inventory Management will be responsible of a team of 4 supervisors in charge of Inventory Control and Inventory Planning. This role will monitor inventory volume projections & inventory accuracy, develop & coordinate slotting optimization, new items positioning and manage the cycle count program and audits. Working cross functionally, this role will identify and implement opportunities to achieve a healthier inventory position.

The incumbent will mentor and provide leadership to a team of direct and indirect reports (including cycle counters, coordinators and team of supervisors). The role requires building and enhancing strong working relationships (internally within the Distribution Centers as well has Head Office and externally with Vendors) to drive performance. The role will work closely with Finance and Supply Chain to increase inventory performance within the Distribution Centers.

Your role

  • Focus on identifying cost-saving opportunities, ensure effective management of inventory by acting as a safeguard to monitor NPI, control damages, and mitigate obsolescence.
  • Plan, develop, and implement data-driven inventory methods.
  • Create Distribution center/DDC inventory budget annually by distributing budget given from Corporate into predetermined cost buckets.
  • Monitor the facility budget regularly against costs occurred from inventory adjustments, damages, miscellaneous costs, etc. to ensure facility is at or below budget target.
  • Manage up to $300 million of inventory at all sites to ensure inventory management and accuracy, by managing vendor compliance, receiving issues, inventory adjustment justifications, cycle counting, shrink, inventory investigation, PO transfers, etc).
  • Manage internal finance inventory audits and external consultants’ inventory year-end audit.
  • Create volume inventory DC forecasting (SKU management, slotting, shrink & obsolescence forecasts).
  • Perform various analysis to explain and justify discrepancies (e.g., cost variance analysis, inventory turnover, obsolescence, ABC analysis, storage capacity analysis).
  • Develop, manage, and monitor Distribution center performance reporting on inventory accuracy, inventory cost and other Inventory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate and act as a business partner DC inventory advisor with Supply Chain, Finance and Merchandising in ongoing Transformation Projects.
  • Mentor and monitor supervisor's performance and set them up for success; achieve or exceed key performance indicators, safety, performance, and budget targets.

The qualifications we are looking for

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • You hold a certification in inventory management (e.g., CPIM) or a relevant finance certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).
  • You possess a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in inventory management, with a strong emphasis on the financial aspects.
  • You have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a team leader.
  • You have experience with distribution center operations (large facility)
  • You demonstrate leadership and team building ability (experience in managing large team, including supervisors
  • You have a proven track record of optimizing inventory levels, reducing cost, and improving inventory control processes.
  • You have previous experience as a supply chain specialist or in a similar field.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage financial data for informed decision-making.
  • You have experience creating and managing budgets.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills to work effectively at several levels of the organization and across multiple functional areas.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problem-solving.
  • Successfully manages multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience and willingness to mentor and coach others.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts among team members.
  • Highly motivated to the team’s and facility’s success.
  • Approaches change optimistically; adjusts proficiently to changing work environments.
  • Copes positively in high-stress work environment
  • High proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (BY-WMS, Exced), Access and Excel
  • Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers.
