Our expectations
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Translator will act as specialist and contact person for the various translation needs of RONA inc.
The incumbent will be responsible for translating various documents from English into French and from French into English, in addition to being responsible for managing translation projects with the agencies that partner with the company. This person will be required to occasionally review agency translations to ensure quality, make sure the requests are completed on time, and carry out the various administrative tasks of the translation department.
We are looking for a resourceful and rigorous person for whom the French and English languages have no secrets. The position to fill is a remote role that requires occasional visits to our Boucherville office.
Your role
Translation
- Provide accurate translations from English into French and from French into English of documents related to the various business needs of the company
- Adhere to the company’s quality standards, terminology, and distinctive voice
- Review or proofread texts drafted by internal business partners or translated by external resources
- Work quickly and meet deadlines
- Provide language support services to internal business partners
- Enrich the terminology database by creating files for key words, departmental preferences, or technical terms; refine or verify the terminology used
- Perform other related tasks as needed
Project Management
- Act as the point of contact for the Translation department; manage relations and communications with various internal clients and external service providers
- Monitor and manage the Translation department’s email inbox
- Assess each request and plan all steps for translation projects
- Identify clients’ needs and determine project feasibility before providing tailored solutions
- Create and manage translation projects assigned to agencies in the translation memory used by the company
- Assign tasks to appropriate language resources
- Follow up on assigned projects to make sure deadlines are met; if needed, identify appropriate corrective measures
- Ensure internal-client satisfaction
- Follow up on the budget and process invoices
The qualifications we are looking for
- University degree in Translation or other language field
- 5 to 7 years of experience in translation
- Experience in project management
- Experience in coordinating projects with translation providers and translators
- Proficiency with translation tools (experience with memoQ will be considered an asset)
- Certification with the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (an asset)
- High level of independence, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good time-management and priority-setting skills
- Ability to work on several projects at the same time, meet tight deadlines, and handle pressure
- Ability to adapt quickly
