Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the incumbent of this position is responsible for ensuring the smooth running and monitoring of operations on his or her shift, according to the directives and planning provided to him/her. He must make the best decisions that will allow for optimal production according to the established objectives, while ensuring safe, reliable operations and quality products. He participates in the improvement of processes, processes, and the continuous development of the skills of his employees. He develops the cooperation of his employees and their sense of belonging.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting constant rounds and documented internal audits to ensure that work is carried out properly in accordance with established safety, quality and productivity guidelines, standards, and guidelines. He is responsible for implementing appropriate measures and following up until the situation is corrected
  • Ensure that work is carried out correctly according to established safety and quality guidelines and instructions, that any problems are reported immediately, reports are completed, and follow-up is done until the situation is corrected.
  • Rigorously apply the company's instructions and policies in terms of Health, Safety, Maintenance and Hygiene (HSEH) and the safe operation of equipment
  • Contribute to the improvement of the OHS management system by identifying any hazards and participating with the operator in a daily inspection of the workplace at the beginning of the shift. Ensure that employees adopt safe behaviors
  • Ensure that all staff under its supervision are well trained on OHS requirements
  • Ensure that operations are conducted in a safe manner on his/her work site and maintain a close relationship with management staff on the status of operations and employees
  • Ensure that the work is done according to the company's schedule and standards. Any deviations from planning and/or standards must be reported to the Area Manager and followed up to ensure that corrections are made in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the improvement of operational activities by providing suggestions and knowledge on his/her field of work
  • Exchange information with other shift supervisors to ensure the smooth running of the production process
  • Meet with shift staff and prepare daily information reports.
  • Complete employee timecards daily according to company standards
  • Follow up and manage employee problems according to the process outlined in the collective agreement and according to the standards and management rules established by the company.
  • Ensure that staff work according to their responsibilities. Immediately communicate to the employee any corrections they need to make to their work. Follow up with the employee to ensure that instructions have been understood and followed

Requirements

  • Relevant supervisory experience of at least 5-7 years
  • Minimum secondary V completed or DEC or experience on bag machines is an asset
  • Good mechanical sense
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship
  • Ability to manage stress and sense of responsibility
