This role involves highly responsible work in supporting the administration of all workplace policies and programs related to Compliance. The individual will also serve as a back-up to plant supervision. In addition, this person will work closely with Sanimax’s corporate regional specialists to ensure alignment with strategic compliance objectives.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Compliance Training and Development:

  • Initiates and oversees the development of a comprehensive quality/performance improvement program. In conjunction with the staff , directs and coordinates quality/performance improvement initiatives for the company
  • In collaboration with the company’s supervisor and management, participates in the development, monitoring, reporting, and improvement of the production & process. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with external agencies, purchasers, and stakeholders related to quality/performance initiatives
  • Supports and conducts new hire safety orientation and safety training.
  • Supports the delivery of Health and Safety training to employees. i.e lock-out/tag-out, confined spaces, hot work, mechanical equipment safety training, Emergency Evacuation, WHMIS, PPE.
  • Tracks all required safety training in database.
  • Audits the quality of training application.

Documentation, Policies and Procedures:

  • Maintains Compliance Library
  • Review current Compliance Policy and Procedures to ensure compliance and implement changes as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and administers government required for environmental compliance.
  • Generates all government required reports.
  • Complete all actions and maintain all records required by ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND ENHANCEMENT ACT
  • Maintain records of injuries, incidents and hazard reporting. Reviews safety statistics and works with management team to make recommendations to help correct trends and safety issues.
  • Works with Supervisors, Health and Safety manager to investigate all accidents, injuries and incidents.
  • Maintains awareness and advises management concerning future regulatory changes and requirements.

Plant Supervision Support:

  • Support managers and Supervisors as related to production needs everyday
  • Make plant tours to validate the effectiveness of various H&S programs in place.
  • Be attentive to the problems of operation and maintenance in health and safety.
  • Ensure the good link between the theory of health and safety programs and the reality of operation and maintenance.
  • Monitor maintenance to ensure the quality of monitoring health and safety enforced by laws and standards.
  • Participate actively in the dissemination of elements of health and safety with managers.
  • Promote teamwork to find the best health and safety solutions in a given problem.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post secondary/university education in Environmental, Health and Safety or equivalent diploma
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to deal with change.
  • Flexibility with work schedule.
  • Able to travel occasionally.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver positive business results.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive and concise technical reports for effective communication with a variety of internal and external entities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
