Coordinate and manage freight requirements for Finished Goods, Raw Materials, and other products via 3rd Party Carriers ensuring that all shipments are completed accurately, on time, and on budget. By competently and efficiently carrying out these daily activities, the applicant will contribute to the company’s success by providing excellent service.
70% Freight Scheduling (Logistics)
- Plan, coordinate and track shipments
- Process carrier tenders and forward to approved carriers using the TMS application
- Negotiate with transportation providers to obtain best rates and service based on product and customer requirements
- Monitor transportation provider benchmark system to measure service levels
- Manage a transportation database reflecting rates, equipment, origin/destination pairs, fuel surcharges, carrier insurance, contact information
- Review and Validate information within Infor M3 and TMS for accurate freight accruals
- Manage Transport Accessorial charges, i.e. detention, waiting time, etc.
- Cross-training within the logistics group in multi-modal scenarios
- Participate in Logistics projects by managing new initiatives as they arise.
- Actively participate in initiatives to help meet Logistics Departmental goals
- Audit 3rd Party Freight Invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance
30% Administration:
- Review, dispute and/or approve payments for carrier invoices
- Analyze Logistics related data, and recommend areas for improvement.
- Active involvement with problem-solving of issues presented
- Back-up/assistance to dispatchers as required - updating work-orders in TMS (i.e. carrier invoice pricing, weights, status), tracking and tracing of loads, etc
- Actively participate in initiatives to help meet Logistics Departmental goals
- Administrative duties as required
Travelling % and description: Less than 5% travel required. Travel may be required for participation in Training Events, Workshops or to meet with service providers.
Physical conditions: Long periods of sitting, and viewing computer monitors
Other: Periodically be available afterhours to monitor shipments and resolve carrier issues
Education:
· High School Diploma
· Some College or University Experience is an asset
Experience :
Some transportation and logistics experience is an asset
