Reporting to the Production Director, the mandate is to ensure the development and competitiveness of manufacturing operations in terms of costs, production standards, safety, quality, and the work environment. The Plant Manager is an engaged, hands-on leader, overseeing operations through close collaboration with the team while providing positive, influence-driven leadership.
As a change agent, the Manager promotes a culture of discipline and continuous improvement, ensuring a balanced, harmonious, and collaborative work environment. The Manager is also tasked with developing and recommending operational budgets to maximize both short- and long-term production capacity while minimizing exposure to economic and environmental risks.
Strategic Responsibilities:
- Lead improvement initiatives to foster a workplace health and safety culture and enhance the stability of manufacturing operations.
- Measure and monitor operational performance against key performance indicators and standards.
- Develop, plan, execute, and control actions necessary to achieve the objectives under their responsibility.
- Participate in the development of the organization's global strategies, integrating operational realities within their factory.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Regularly conduct floor walks to maintain proximity with employees.
- Foster a robust health and safety culture across all operations.
- Structure operations in their sector to ensure the efficiency and performance of invested resources.
- Plan, lead, and support operational activities.
- Guide team leaders in their professional development.
- Ensure the development, implementation, monitoring, and compliance of standardized operational and cleanliness procedures.
- Optimize the efficiency, productivity, and performance of equipment to meet set objectives.
- Monitor team performance to ensure strict adherence to operational and quality standards.
- Actively participate in quality audits or other relevant assessments.
Management of Human, Material, and Financial Resources:
- Act as a leader by mentoring the team, fostering a continuous improvement culture, and positively driving change management in collaboration with the People & Culture team.
- Collaborate with the People & Culture team to develop a succession plan that guides and fosters employee development.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrates strong leadership by mobilizing people, inspiring employee engagement, and earning trust.
- Demonstrates rigor and inspires others to follow their example.
- Proven expertise in change management.
- Significant experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in the food processing or other high-volume, fast-paced sectors.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles (an asset) and continuous improvement practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills and strong ability to synthesize information.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented at all times.
- Strong problem-solving ability and rapid, informed decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and oversee teams.
