CERTIFIED EDUCATION ASSISTANT (CEA)
AVAILABILITY: FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, CASUAL
WAGE RATE: $28.81 per hour
POSITION DURATION: 10 months
BENEFIT PLAN: Extended health, dental, life insurance, pension plan, short and long term disability
This 10-month position offers a wage rate of $28.81 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits plan, including extended health and dental care, and participation in Municipal Pension Plan. CEA's giving personal care to students will be paid at a higher rate at $30.89 per hour.
Employees working on call, will get 5% of bi-weekly earnings in lieu of vacation and 5% of straight time earnings in each pay period in lieu of statutory holidays.
After successfully completing a probationary period and attaining seniority, casuals working on call will receive 10% in lieu of benefits and paid leaves

We are looking for a Certified Education Assistant (CEA) to assist and support students in the K-12 education system who have a variety of academic, physical, social, and emotional diverse abilities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
• Under the direction of the Resource Teacher, the school-based CEA will assist with and support student(s) by working together in a team environment, tutor students, modify and prepare specialized teaching materials, compile and update student records, and monitor student behavior.
• This position may be required to transport and accompany students as described in the IEP(s), and as covered by school district Field Trip Policy. Some of these activities may include swimming, hiking, skiing, etc.
• The CEA may be required to assist with lifting, feeding, personal care (toileting), and supervision for special needs students in the school, as requested by Principal and/or Resource Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Successful completion of Grade 12 and a Certified Education Assistant program. Equivalent qualifications will be considered if you have relevant post-secondary education and current working experience supporting children, youth and adults with diverse abilities and needs.
