It is acknowledged that Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls approximately 24,000 students (including over 3,000 students who self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry). Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. There are a total of 51 school sites with 33 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). We invite applications for the position of:

Electrician

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations or designate, install, test, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and systems. This position may be required to start work at various project locations.

Applicants must have:

completed Grade 12;

Interprovincial or B.C. Trades Qualification in Electrical;

proven experience working with all types of electrical systems such as electrical service, lighting, motor controls, P.A. systems, fire alarm, intrusion alarms, network wiring, media retrieval, telephones;

valid B.C. Drivers License.

Applicants must be:

able to work with minimum supervision;

able to work alone and within a team environment;

self motivated

The following would be considered an asset:

two (2) years experience at a journeyman level in maintenance/construction practices and procedures in a commercial environment;

electrical code updating course;

First Aid Level 2 Certificate.

Applicants will be expected to:

have knowledge of current construction safety practices;

possess the physical condition and health to carry out the required duties of this position;

maintain good interpersonal and communication skills;

complete SD23 online safety training.

This is full time continuing position starting as soon as possible, working 40 hours per week at a wage rate of $37.93 per hour, plus a comprehensive employee benefit package including extended health and dental coverage, short term and long term disability insurance and participation in a defined benefit pension plan.
