Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. There are a total of 51 school sites with 33 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). We invite applications for the position of:

Finance Clerk

Under the supervision of the Finance and Payroll Managers, the Finance Clerk will assist in the operations of the accounting and payroll departments by performing accounting, payroll and administrative/clerical duties as required and maintaining a variety of files.

Specific duties include:

receiving and processing invoices (both District and school-based);

assisting with reconciling vendor statements;

processing vendor payments;

assisting accounts receivable;

processing District VISA and journal entries;

assisting schools/departments with accounting records.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

completed Grade 12 (Senior Secondary School Graduation);

six (6) months of academic training, including relevant accounting/bookkeeping courses;

two (2) years' recent related experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll;

knowledge and experience with accounting programs;

excellent organizational skills to ensure that work is performed in a logical sequence to provide accuracy within established time frames;

knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe, etc.) as well as SharePoint/Outlook;

a net typing speed of thirty-five (35) wpm words per minute.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

maintain a high quality of work including accuracy and dependability;

possess excellent organizational skills;

maintain excellent interpersonal skills;

complete the required District's Health and Safety training.

This is full time continuing position starting as soon as possible, working 35 hours per week at a wage rate of $28.80 per hour , plus a comprehensive employee benefit package including extended health and dental coverage, short term and long-term disability insurance and participation in a defined benefit pension plan.
