Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)

Effective Date: October 15, 2024 until not later than June 30, 2025

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment

• knowledge of and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.

• demonstrated knowledge and experience of effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills for all students; preference will be given to individuals possessing knowledge, training and experience in Balanced Literacy, Guided Reading, SMART Learning, Reading Power and Writing Power

• training and demonstrated effective experience in current Math pedagogies, including SNAP

• demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively as part of a Primary Team in implementation of Response to Intervention school-wide systems

• demonstrated excellent classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills

• proven ability as an effective team member, able to effectively work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration (School Based Team and Problem-Solving Team models)

• demonstrated ability and willingness to use classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to plan for differentiated instruction

• commitment to supporting EBS and school-wide initiatives in behaviour support

• demonstrated commitment to working with colleagues in an open, accepting manner in order to promote a strong and caring professional learning community

• demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents

• demonstrated ability to address the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of children and in particular children with Special Needs

• ability to develop IEP goals and objectives in conjunction with parents and staff, and ability to effectively offer learning opportunities to support the agreed upon goals and objectives, working collaboratively with EAs and other Learning Support staff

• demonstrated ability in the effective application of current brain-based strategies as they relate to self-regulation, mindful behaviour and problem solving

• knowledge and demonstrated ability in implementing restorative practices in the classroom

• ongoing commitment to professional development and currency in the craft of teaching

• demonstrated strong media literacy skills and the ability to apply them as instructional tools to support learning in the classroom and skill with problem solving technology issues

• demonstrated willingness to implement the goals and strategies of the school growth plan

• ability to manage a classroom-based budget
