Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Secondment)
Assignment Area(s ): District Teacher Librarian
Effective Date: Immediately not until later than June 30, 2026.
Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Please Note: Due to the specialized nature of this position, the successful applicant, if currently a continuing appointee with the Chilliwack School District, may be seconded' to this position thereby having the assurance to return to his/her former position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
Master's of Education in Teacher-Librarianship, Master Library and Information Studies (MUS) or Diploma in Teacher-Librarianship and successful experience as a Teacher-Librarian.
Experience and/or willingness to learn the skills necessary to plan, implement, and oversee the development of a school wide program for Media & Technology in our school library.
Demonstrated ability and experience in collaborating with teachers to improve instructional practice in literacy.
Ability to manage a resource collection using curricular and student interests to identify and obtain library materials, organize, and maintain the library collection to promote independent reading and lifelong learning.
Collaboration skills in order to support classroom teachers in fostering independent learners by teaching research, information literacy, technology, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated strong interest in, knowledge and understanding of literature and be able to share a passion for books and learning with students.
Familiarity with a wide variety of literacy approaches, strategies, and methods of assessment.
Demonstrated excellent listening, speaking, presentation and writing skills.
Successful school experience as a Teacher-Librarian fostering an interest in literacy
Collaboration skills in order to support educators in fostering independent learners by demonstrated ability to provide literacy and curriculum leadership, professional development, and support services for school staff in information and communication technology
Demonstrated strong interest in, knowledge and understanding of literature and ability to share a passion for books and learning with students
Demonstrated strong interest in, knowledge and understanding of literature to support understanding of number sense
Demonstrated experience with online databases, online libraries, SharePoint, learning resources
Demonstrated ability and proven experience using performance standard competency-based assessments with literacy and numeracy
Demonstrated ability and experience in working with teachers to improve instructional practice in literacy
Ability to recommend and curate a collection that is inclusive of student diversity (i.e. neuro-diverse, anti-racism, LGBTQ2SIA+)
Ability and demonstrated experience with reviewing recommended resources and collections
Demonstrated ability with decolonizing teaching resources
Demonstrated experience with district-initiated literacy practices (Story Studio, comprehensive literacy program, oral language experiences)
Demonstrated experience with district-wide literacy events (i.e. Reading Link Challenge, Super Reader, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to support colleagues with assessing and planning for student learning in literacy and numeracy
Demonstrated experience in supporting children in the early years (i.e. Strong Start, Ready, Set, Learn, Childcare)
Demonstrated ability to support school-based teacher librarians with relevant software and data collection
Proven ability, commitment, and willingness to work collectively with colleagues and administrators in order to support all students through a student-centred model
Teaching research, information literacy, technology, communication, and critical thinking skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Teacher-Librarian role
