Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2025, to not later than June 30, 2027

2. Due to the specialized nature of this position, the successful applicant, if currently a continuing appointee with Chilliwack School District, may be "seconded" to this position thereby having the assurance to return to his/her former position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

Please Note: This assignment requires the teacher to work collaboratively with classroom teachers using a co-teaching/coaching model. In addition, this teacher will be using targeted reading interventions with small groups of students. This assignment will be at multiple sites throughout the year.

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment at the elementary school level
  • knowledge and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to the Primary Years
  • minimum of 5 years of demonstrated excellence as a primary classroom teacher
  • willingness to work in other teacher's classrooms as a co-teaching partner (co-plan and co-teach)
  • excellent classroom management, organizational skills and integration of compassionate and inclusive classrooms
  • demonstrated knowledge of a comprehensive literacy program and the components to support reading (comprehension, vocabulary building, phonics/phonological awareness and fluency strategies)
  • demonstrated knowledge of district assessments and experience in using assessment evidence to plan for instruction/intervention
  • demonstrated knowledge of effective formative, self, peer, and summative assessment practices
  • demonstrated ability and experience in tracking and monitoring student achievement in relation to literacy skills
  • willingness to collaborate with Learning Services staff and Literacy Support colleagues to align instructional, assessment and reporting practices
  • Master's Degree focusing on Literacy Education, Curriculum, Mentoring or Learning Disabilities would be an asset, or advanced university level coursework and/or accredited professional development in: strategies for differentiating and adapting curriculum requirements to meet the diverse learning needs of students; assessment, diagnosis, and remediation of literacy and/or written output learning difficulties; use of assistive technology in instruction
  • will participate in training on inclusive practices to meet the diverse needs of students
  • demonstrated ability and experience in teaching and mentoring other teacher colleagues
  • demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, students and parents
  • demonstrated ability to motivate and successfully teach students with diverse learning abilities
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of children
  • Valid BC drivers license required
  • Current experience as an ELC teacher is an asset
