Reports to the Carpentry Foreman, and designs, constructs and installs a variety of cabinets and millwork.
POSTING DETAILS
Position - Cabinet Maker
Start Date - As soon as possible (flexible)
Employment - Permanent, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs, does layout, assembles, installs and repairs cabinetry and millwork.
Prepares work order estimates of time and materials.
Clean and maintain shop equipment for daily use.
Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
Assists with carpenter duties as required.
Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
Respond to emergency situations as requested.
Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Grade 12.
Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate - Cabinetmaking.
Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
Ability to perform a variety of skilled carpentry tasks in cabinetry and millwork and in the construction and maintenance of school district facilities.
Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision.
Skill in the use of tools of the trade.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work sketches.
Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures.
