Role Overview
In this role of HR Officer, you will report to the Director of Human Resources and will play a crucial role by leading strategic recruitment activities to attract top talent. You will work closely with hiring managers and union representatives to ensure a smooth and effective recruitment process. Your experience in HR generalist duties will also be essential in supporting various HR functions within our complex and dynamic unionized organization.
Key Responsibilities
Working with key interest holders, develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to meet the organization's talent needs.
Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing requirements and provide guidance on recruitment best practices.
Source and attract qualified candidates through various channels, including online job boards, social media, and professional networks.
Conduct thorough candidate screenings, interviews, and assessments to identify the best fit for the organization.
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting to offer negotiation and onboarding.
Build and maintain strong relationships with union groups to support the work of the HR Officers (generalists).
Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and labor relations.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in recruitment and HR management.
Required Qualifications
Diploma in Human Resources Management and
Minimum of 3 years of similar experience in Human Resources within specialized experience in recruitment
CPHR designation or candidate status is an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and ability to interpret and support collective agreement language
Proven ability to abide by and maintain strict confidentiality
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability contribute to effective working relationships
Proven ability to work independently under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision; prioritize and take initiative
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and perform effectively as a member of a team
Excellent analytical skills and a proven ability to work through problems
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow-up and prioritize the needs of the business groups
Ability to attend off-site events or meetings, travel, and possess and maintain a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
