Description
Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive community that celebrates diversity, innovation, and collaboration. Whether you're a seasoned educator or embarking on your journey in the field of education, Langley School District offers ample opportunities for professional growth and development.
This is a position of special responsibility. A Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) supports and equips site-based staff to design academically and socially-inclusive learning communities. They are part of the District Learning Support Services staff and report to the District Principal of Learning Support Services. TSVIs gather and interpret assessment documentation to confirm eligibility for DeafBlind (Category B) and Visual Impairment (Category E) designations. They serve students through the itinerant model of service delivery and may travel to schools where students who have visual impairments are enrolled to provide service through direct and consultative modes:
Direct Service involves working directly with the student with a visual impairment towards goals set out in the students’ individualized programming plan.
Consultative Service involves collaborative work with the student’s educational team to ensure that the sum of the student’s educational program is made meaningful and accessible based on the student’s functional vision profile.
