SUMMARY:
Reports to and works under the direction of the Principal of Indigenous Education. Performs confidential and non-confidential administrative secretarial and organizational duties to support the operation of the indigenous Education Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of secondary school graduation program or equivalent, supplemented by secretarial or office administration courses/programs equivalent to 12 months of course work, including a strong communications component.
Minimum of 5 years recent relevant and related clerical/secretarial experience preferably in a senior secretarial position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires a broad understanding and experience of computers and peripheral hardware and software, including internet e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, and data system backups. Familiar with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, My ED, CIMS, and some basic graphic design software.
Understanding of school registration, secondary school course selection and BC Graduation requirements. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills and ability to use judgement and tact when providing information.
Ability to research data and materials, and to compile statistics. Ability to deal accurately with a wide variety of tasks and detail. Ability to act on own initiative; to use good judgement.
Ability to set priorities, to meet deadlines and work with interruptions. Physically capable of performing the duties required.
Knowledge of WCB and WHMIS regulations. Safe work habits.
Some positions may require the knowledge of a language other than English.
