Vice-Principals play an integral role as part of the District management team and of the school to which they are assigned. They are responsible for overall supervision and operation of their individual schools and also play an appropriate leadership role in District initiatives.
Expectations and responsibilities of Delta Principals include:
Projecting a clear sense of direction consistent with the district vision
Working to develop a Framework for Enhancing Student Learning based on the needs of the learners
Participating actively in the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the instructional program
Demonstrating knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
Understanding child development as it pertains to learning
Working with staff to build knowledge and expertise related to assessment strategies
Establishing a safe, orderly environment that promotes teaching and learning
Encouraging and providing support for the professional learning of staff and participating in a program of personal professional learning
Keeping informed about current research, trends and practices in education
Acting as a symbol of the school’s culture through articulating and modeling goals and behaviours which signal to others what is of importance and value
Demonstrating strong human relations and communication skills
Developing positive and supportive relationships within an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
Fostering supportive attitudes among community members including providing opportunities for members of the community to associate productively with the school’s personnel and programs
Planning and organizing school operations and routines, supervising a variety of personnel and students, and ensuring the effective management of the school property
Requirements:
Minimum of five years exemplary teaching experience
Master’s degree in an area such as Leadership, Curriculum or Learning
Salary Range: $134,708 - $142,334
