SUMMARY:

Reports to and works under the direction of the Director, International Programs. Responsible for organizing and supporting the efficient operation of the homestay program for the Delta School District.

Delta's International Student Program welcomes over 600 students from 35 countries every year and is recognized for its excellent care and support for our International Students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a secondary school graduation program or equivalent, plus a minimum of a relevant 2-year diploma or post-secondary education, including course work in counselling, psychology, education, conflict resolution, and or administration.

Minimum of 4 years of recent and related experience working in a cross-cultural environment with community agencies or in a school setting, which included administrative responsibilities. Experience working with international or ELL students and families.

Experience making presentations at workshops/seminars.

Proficiency using a variety of software and other computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, websites, e-mail, e-newsletters, and social media.

Ability to handle a high volume of detailed administrative work quickly and accurately. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to work productively and cooperatively with various family, community, and school personnel. Effective organizational skills with the ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality, and exercise judgement and tact when dealing with culturally sensitive issues and conflict resolution/mediation.

Must be able to demonstrate examples of leadership, empathy, and sensitivity.

Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, available to work flexible hours and weekends as required, and provide supervision to school-aged children within and outside of the school district as needed.

Knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices.Valid BC Driver's License.Safe driving record. Experience using word processing, database, email and spreadsheet applications.
