THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a full-time temporary Senior Human Resources Advisor - Labour Relations to join our Labour Relations team within the Employee Services Division. In this role, you will provide expert advice and support to management staff regarding collective agreement interpretation, labour relations practices, and employee management procedures for all unionized groups as well as exempt staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will organize and conduct grievance meetings; complete full cycle employee misconduct investigations, including interviewing witnesses, conducting investigation meetings, determining appropriate outcomes, and drafting written documentation; participate in Labour/Management meetings and collective bargaining; conduct investigations into allegations of bullying and harassment; and conduct research to support, prepare materials for, and attend mediation, arbitration, and human rights hearings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your strong communication and business writing skills are imperative for conveying information clearly with individuals both internal and external to the organization in situations which can be emotionally charged. You possess the ability to deal with sensitive issues objectively and to apply your problem-solving skills to circumstances which are often complex and ambiguous. Your organizational ability allows you to effectively manage your time, prioritize demand, and juggle administrative tasks. You hold a University Degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration or Industrial Relations. Your experience will ideally have been gained in a multi-union public sector environment with 5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources/Labour Management.

COMPENSATION

The salary for the temporary Senior Human Resources Advisor - Labour Relations is $103,905 plus a comprehensive benefits package, including, Municipal Pension Plan, Vancouver Employee Savings Plan, Extended Health, Dental, Group Life, Long Term Disability, Vacation, Gratuity, and potential Compensatory time.
