Vision Teacher (Gr. K-12), District Learning Services

Full-Time Continuing with Benefits (1.0 FTE)

Location: Based out of Brock Elementary School

POSITION DETAILS: This is an itinerant position K-12 with a caseload of blind and partially sighted students. The teacher works as part of a team at the Vision Resource Centre as well as with staff in schools and other professionals in the field. The person in this position works directly with students and provides consultation to staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Education

Master’s Degree in Visual Impairment

Competency in Braille codes; French and music braille codes would be an asset

Working knowledge of eye conditions and the impact on learning needs of visually impaired students

Comprehensive understanding of adaptive technology is required

Ability to adapt strategies, techniques and materials needed to support visually impaired students.

BC Teaching Certificate (TRB)

Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS)
