The assignment will be effective September 3, 2024 and will end on June 30, 2025, with opportunity to apply internally for postings for the following school year.

The District School Psychologist is primarily responsible for conducting psycho-educational assessments and providing consultation services. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of current, effective assessment methods as well as best practice in academic intervention.

Scope of Position:

Conduct psycho-educational assessments for students from K-12

Provide consultation service to teachers and parents regarding students with a wide variety of issues including learning disabilities, behavioural challenges and cognitive impairments

Provide assistance in the 1701 process of identification of students in special education categories

Provide guidance to resource teachers regarding the use of Level B assessment tools

Conducting assessment for the purpose of adjudication for Provincial examinations

Other duties as assigned

R equired Qualifications:

Minimum of Masters Degree in School Psychology or equivalent

Eligible for membership in the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch an asset

Eligible for membership in BC Association of School Psychologists

Ability to work independently and efficiently to complete psycho-educational assessments

Excellent knowledge of assessment methods for formally evaluating cognitive, academic, behavioral and emotional functioning for elementary, middle and secondary students

Ability to collaborate with district and school staff to plan intervention programs for students with a variety of learning needs

Knowledge of audit compliance criteria for special education categories

Excellent communication skills

Compensation:

Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $57,984.00 to $107,490.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package. This position also includes a Position of Special Responsibility stipend.
