The Burnaby School District is on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish.

The Burnaby School District is the fourth largest in BC. The District operates 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, including a range of district and provincial resource programs. The District supports and provides learning to 25,000 Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) students and to more than 6,000 adult learners through our established Burnaby Community & Continuing Education program. With more than 100 languages spoken in the homes of its students, the District is one of the most culturally diverse in Canada.

The BC Provincial School for the Deaf is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school in partnership with South Slope Elementary and Burnaby South Secondary schools. Working as a team, members of the BC Provincial School for the Deaf strive to develop the full learning potential and positive self-identity of each student. Value is given to Deaf heritage and each student is encouraged to become a responsible, contributing member of the Deaf and hearing communities.

The BC Provincial School for the Deaf is a Provincial Resource Program that is overseen by Burnaby School District. It is a K-12 school located at two sites, one elementary school and one secondary school.

Salary for this position will be based on the B.C. Teacher’s Collective Agreement and would range between $59,711 and $109,942 depending on certification and years of experience.

The successful candidate will have:

possess or be eligible for a valid BC teaching certificate

a Bachelor of Education Degree or academic equivalent

a master’s degree or diploma in the education of the deaf and hard of hearing or certification by the Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH); and

fluency in sign (A.S.L.) plus the qualifications for specific teaching assignments are required for the Provincial School for the Deaf
