NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in education, with a concentration in deaf and hard of hearing education, from a recognized university
Certification or eligibility from the Association of Canadian educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Valid B.C. teaching certificate
Ability to travel between sites
Candidates should have:
Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
High level of interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize
Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams, families, and community agencies
Knowledge of student eligibility for Ministry of Education Hearing category
Provide universal tier one supports for students with audio challenges in classrooms
Provide program/resource development for students with hearing-based needs
Consult with district and school-based staff, parents, and community agencies to support students with hearing-based needs
Knowledge of current assistive technologies to support students with audio needs
Provide information and consultation to school personnel regarding educational placement and programming
Assist in designing and evaluating individual education plans
Assist with the District Tiered Intervention framework
A willingness to attend district-based professional development opportunities in an effort to stay current and implement best practices
A willingness to provide a variety of in-service opportunities to school and district staff
