PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION TEACHER

Full-time (1.0 FTE) position

École Cedardale Elementary

*Effective December 20th, 2024 until June 30, 2025

*This assignment may start earlier than the given start date

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from approximately $50,000 to $109,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

This position replaces a teacher that is on a leave. The successful applicant for this position must possess a Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch and demonstrate evidence of the following:

Native-like fluency in spoken and written French;

A sound pedagogy in French Immersion education;

Demonstrated understanding and experience supporting a balanced literacy programme with emergent readers in a French Immersion setting

Understanding, training and experience with the IB Pinter YP curriculum preferably with the completion of at least one Level 1, 2, or 3 workshop;

Current knowledge, recent successful experience and training at the primary levels in French Immersion with a strong background in integrating curriculum areas,

Experience with pedagogy and implementation of combined classes would be an asset;

An ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group;

Knowledge and willingness to use Inquiry-based approach to planning and teaching;

Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan a program building on the goals and outcomes of the new Ministry of Education curriculum;

Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;

Possess excellent communication skills with students, staff and parents;

Knowledge and experience in working with Special Needs students and support staff with a focus on Differentiated Instruction in the classroom and demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;

Extensive knowledge and experience in the area of Technology and the ability to integrate technology such as Coding, and ADST-related curriculum into the learning;

Ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the Performance Standards;

A classroom management style that focuses on structure, mutual respect, natural consequences, consistency and positive reinforcement;

Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of needs;

Ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods;

Competencies as set out by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch for professional educators in schools.
