INTERMEDIATE TEACHER
Part-time (0.4 FTE) position
Hollyburn Elementary School
Effective January 20, 2025 until June 30, 2025*
*This assignment may start earlier than the given start date
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from approximately $50,000 to $109,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
This position replaces a teacher that is on a leave. The successful applicant for this position must possess a Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch and demonstrate evidence of the following:
A clear understanding of the characteristics of the intermediate student and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of intermediate students
Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an intermediate program
A wide repertoire of strategies addressing assessment (formative, summative, peer and self)
A proven ability to frame the curriculum and classroom management around equity, diversity, inclusivity, and reconciliation
Knowledge and experience in working with learners with varying needs and support staff; demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
Knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying needs
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability and commitment to work cooperatively and effectively with other educators
An understanding of the First People’s Principles as they relate to the curriculum and our local context
A willingness to support and enhance ADST and innovative learning at the intermediate level
Knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology (the ability to integrate various technologies into the curriculum, modes of assessment, and its use for student adaptations)
Proven ability to create a safe and caring learning environment for students using the principles of social-emotional learning
A strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders
