ELEMENTARY ELL TEACHER
Part-time (0.4 FTE) Term position
Gleneagles Elementary School
Effective September 3, 2024 until June 30, 2025
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:
A certificate of qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch
Demonstrated experience and qualifications as outlined by the Ministry of Education English Language Learning Policy and Guidelines
University level coursework (300-400 level) in applied linguistics for English Language Learners and/or teaching certification for teaching ELL
Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with classroom teachers and specialists
Current knowledge of best practices for supporting ELL learners in the classroom
Inclusive Pedagogy: Familiarity withinclusive pedagogy and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment
Cultural Competence : Awareness of cultural differences and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Differentiated Instruction : Ability to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of ELL students.
Assessment Strategies : Knowledge of formative and summative assessment techniques for ELLs.
Collaboration Skills : Willingness to work with other educators, parents, and support staff to address student needs.
* This District ELL position will be assigned to an elementary location. This will be discussed in the interview. ELL positions are district-based positions and the location may be changed subject to operational and student needs. This position may be combined with another position to make it fulltime.
