Position Description

A 1.0 FTE - Gr. K-7 Counselling/Resource - Limited Duration Contract Teacher is required by School District No. 57 (Prince George) effective September 1, 2024 but not to extend beyond March 31, 2025. The assignment will be at Ron Brent Elementary School. Applicants must be certified teachers and have completed or are in the process of completing a Masters degree in Counselling. Applicants with assessment and trauma-informed practice experience are preferred. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, including Indigenous, Black, people of colour, all genders, 2SLGBTQ+, and persons with disabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application)

a master's degree in counselling or in the process of completing a master's degree in counselling.

Compensation

Up to $1,000 relocation allowance for teachers relocation from within BC; Up to $1,500 for teachers relocating from AB, SK & MB; and up to $2,000 for teachers relocating from all other provinces and out of country.

Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $49,769 - $95,681. Salary is based on TQS and prior experience.

Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in Dental, Extended Health, and Group Life Insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE

About School District 57

School District No.57 resides on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli Tenneh First Nations, McLeod Lake Indian Band and the Simpcw First Nations.

Geographically we expand from Mackenzie, through Prince George, to McBride and Valemount. We serve 41 schools: 32 Elementary schools, 8 Secondary schools and 1 District Learning Support center for alternative and alternate learning opportunities.

We provide educational programs for approximately 15,000 students inclusive of early learning, after school art and sports programing, trades programs, and dual credit programs with our local post-secondary schools.

We support Lheidli Tenneh students, McLeod Lake students and Takla students living on reserve through our Local Education Agreements. With each Nation we co-construct the educational services provided to the students while attending a school within our school district.
