Position Description

School District No. 60 (Peace River North) is accepting applications

for an anticipated temporary full time (1.0) Elementary Teacher for the 2024-25

school year. This position will be assigned to either a Primary or

Intermediate position depending on enrollment. If an Elementary

position does not become available, the successful candidate will be

employed as a temporary full time (1.0) District Teacher Teaching On

Call.

Process for assignment placement:

If an Elementary

position does become available it will be posted for seven (7) calendar

days. If, after the seven days, there are no internal applicants, the

successful candidate of this position (Job Code 3404669) will be assigned to the vacancy.

About DTTOC:

The assignment will be

dispatched from the Board Office. All DTTOC's are assigned a default

school to which they will work at on the rare days in which they are not

dispatched to a specific placement.

DTTOC's are required

to go to any and all placements in which they are dispatched, as such

DTTOC's must have access to reliable transportation.

This position includes

a variety of TTOC coverage, which can include long-term placements. For

longer term placements, the TTOC may be responsible for lesson

preparation, assessment, and reporting of student learning

Qualifications and Experience

Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)

Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the middle years level

Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students

Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills

Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.

Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community

contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student

feels a sense of belonging

Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn

Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition

Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning

Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity

Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity

Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)

Compensation

$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.

$2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)

Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576

Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
