We invite applications for the position of:

Program Worker - Strong Start, 22.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The current

rate of pay is $32.09 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits.

Please note this role is expected to become continuing, the continuing hours will be 22.5 hours with a temporary increase in hours

to 25 hours until June 26, 2025.

District support staff positions are subject to change. Initial locations are anticipated to be at Royston (10hrs), Miracle Beach

(10hrs), and the Komoks First Nation Outreach Program (5hrs).

Qualifications:

A certificate or diploma, in Early Childhood Education; valid BC ECE certification; minimum of five years current related experience

(e.g. teaching, recreation, social work, community development); training and experience working with children up to 5 years of

age; training and experience working with families in a facilitative role; experience in creating, planning and implementing for a

parent participation learning program; working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and relevant Microsoft Office Suite

programs; valid Standard First Aid Certification with CPR; demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive, creative, collaborative and

resourceful; ability to respect the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents, and teachers; meets the

physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and

communication skills.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties are performed under the supervision of the Director of Instruction K-12 or designate; establishes and posts a daily schedule

of activities for the program with participant involvement; ensures that the activities available for children reflect the stages of child

development and encourages creativity and language development; plans and prepares active, participant oriented, circle time

once or twice daily that involve stories, songs, puppets andprops; makes connections with service providers in the community and facilitates referrals for families where necessary; makes connections with school personnel to facilitate a smooth transition for

families into the formal school system; follows proper work procedures, observes all regulations pertinent to the work, maintains a

good working relationship with other employees, and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment;

performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor; student supervision as required by the Principal or Vice Principal.

* Please note that this position may include start-up/shut-down hours, which have yet to be determined.

* Shut-down / Start-up hours are temporary hours which are worked during the summer break (from Canada Day to Labour Day)

and cannot be carried over into the next school year.
