We invite applications for the positions of: School: Riverside College Position: Teacher, Hair Stylist Level 1 FTE: .20FTE Wednesday Status: Temporary Start Date: September 4, 2024 to June 25, 2025 Qualifications:A Valid B.C Teaching Certificate or ability to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation BranchHairstylist Certificate of qualification with a Red Seal EndorsementMinimum 5 years of experience working as a Hairstylist with a certificate of qualification with a Red Seal endorsementMinimum 5 years teaching experience as a Hairstylist instructorRecent successful experience placing students into industry related work experience/job placementsExperience as an instructor working with youth and adultsKnowledge of SkilledTradesBC Hairstylist Foundation curriculumDemonstrated ability to work as a team member in a self-paced, multi-disciplined environmentLearning Assistance training or experience is an assetKnowledge of industry related and community resources are an assetPossess current knowledge of, and involvement with, industry trendsKnowledge of best business practiceKnowledge of online learning platforms ( ex. Zoom, MS Teams, Scholantis)A valid BC Driver�s license and vehicle, and ability to travel to Work Study locations throughout the Fraser Valley General Duties: To provide classroom instruction that is reflective of industry competencies in the area of hairdressing in a continuous intake/modular setting modelTo teach employability skills as they relate to the Hairstylist industryTo facilitate student success and course/program completionTo assist students in finding industry related work experience and job placements.To serve as the Teacher Advisor for all students in the assigned programTo conduct regular on-going assessment of student progress leading to a formal evaluation/final letter grade in accordance with BC Ministry of Education and SkilledTradesBC program standards, including Learning Updates for courses ending in JulyTo provide regular on-going reporting of student attendance and progress as per BC Ministry of Education and School District standardsTo identify suitable Work Study placements and follow School District Work Study guidelines and practices for Work Study including overseeing Work Study, including site visitsTo teach employability skills as they relate to industryTo arrange for final formal industry related testing as appropriateTo assist students outside one�s teaching assignment as requested and where appropriateTo liaise with industry contacts at both the regional and provincial levels For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included with your application which include: resume cover letter recent teaching reports and/or practicum reports copy of BC Teaching Certificate and/or TQS card or information on current status The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $57,972-$106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service, FTE and qualifications in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
