DISTRICT

1.0 F.T.E. Continuing School Psychologist

A 1.0 F.T.E. Continuing School Psychologist is required effective September 1, 2023.

The successful applicant will:

Be registered (or be eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia with special training in School Psychology;

OR

Have a Master’s Degree in School/Educational Psychology or a related field with a focus on School Psychology and qualifications that meet the standard for membership in the British Columbia Association of School Psychologists.

Other desired abilities qualifications and experience:

Professional Teaching Certificate (BCCT) - preferred but not required;

Qualified to administer and interpret up to and including Level C Educational, Psychological and Behavioural Tests;

Training in Psychometric Theory and Principles;

Current knowledge of Ministry of Education Special Education Policies and Procedures;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Experience and/or In-service/Professional Development working with Indigenous Students, families and communities.

Demonstrated ability in the following:

Consulting with teachers, parents, students and community agencies regarding the nature of student strengths and needs, educational implications and ways to enhance learning and interpersonal relations;

Assisting school counsellors and/or district behavior facilitators in collecting behavioural information and performing initial behavioural screenings; assist in the development and monitoring of positive behaviour plans; consult with school personnel in areas related to behaviour disorders;

Working with School Based teams, multi-disciplinary teams and Community Care Teams;

Assisting in the development of IEPS for referred students;

Designing and presenting in-service in the area of special education and, specifically in the area of assessment.
