Secretary I (Temporary) at

J.L. Jackson Secondary School

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District No. 83 invites qualified individuals to apply for a temporary Secretary I position at J.L. Jackson Secondary School. This is a CUPE position working 35 hours per week starting March 31, 2025, until June 30, 2025. The hourly rate is $25.89 per hour.

THE DISTRICT

In the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District, we serve just over 6700 students and 1200 staff in 24 through a variety of sites located around Shuswap Lake and the North Okanagan. We are known for strong academic achievement, a thriving trades and careers program, and a rich culture of school athletics. The school district enjoys comprehensive Local Education Agreements with each of four First Nations bands. One elementary, one middle, and one secondary school offer French Immersion. Our Strategic Plan prioritizes a students first focus on success, organizational efficiency, and a culture of health and wellness as our key goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

  • Input data from a variety of source documents including newsletters, reports, worksheets, tests, minutes of meetings, correspondence, etc.
  • Prepare, process, file and maintain a variety of records, lists and reports, such as pupil records, registrations, transfers, attendance reports, etc.
  • Run off materials on duplicating machines, sort, collate and staple.
  • Administer minor first aid, advise parents of injury or illness.
  • Provide clerical support for the library, if required.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • Completion of Grade 12 including specialized training courses in business education
  • One-year recent experience in a clerical position obtained within the last two years.
  • Demonstrated ability to type 50 w.p.m. and perform clerical duties efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of office machines including calculator, duplicating machines, P.A. system, and computer.
  • Demonstrated ability to use office software such as Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with staff, parents, students and the public in an effective, cooperative and pleasant manner.
