Student Assistant - Dease Lake School

Full-time Temporary through June 26, 2025

School District 87, Stikine, serves the students and families within the unceded traditional territories of the Ta�lta�n, Tlingit, and Kaska First Nations and we honour these relationships. The Stikine is a progressive northern School District in British Columbia offering a top salary scale with an excellent benefit package.

This full-time temporary position is 29 hours per week effective immediately to June 26, 2025. Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the C.U.P.E. local 2052-02 Collective Agreement. Rate of pay is $29.05 per hour. Terms and conditions of employment, including municipal pension, travel allowance and a full benefit package, are governed by the C.U.P.E. (Local 2052-02) Collective Agreement.

The successful applicant will:

Display exceptional interpersonal skills;

Work closely with the school, parents, and a students;

Maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times;

Work to build trusting, caring relationships with the students which they serve;

Serve as a school-based team member, providing general input into a student's programming;

Work collaboratively with all staff members, attend and participate in parent, student, and staff conferences relating to the student, share information, plan strategies, and develop interventions;

Work with students on a one-to-one basis to carry out prescribed programs;

Provide supervision as needed (may require an altered break schedule);

Assist in student monitoring in all programmed areas and help to provide assistance to students in meeting programming needs (i.e. community activities, recreation).

The Employer expects the successful applicant to enroll in courses to achieve an Education Assistant Certificate.
