Our Tier 1 Banking Client is seeking a seasoned Data Engineer with deep expertise in migration and data modelling to support a strategy migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the migration strategy from MySQL to PostgreSQL, including data modeling, schema conversion, and data transfer.
  • Analyze and map MySQL schema, stored procedures, and queries to PostgreSQL equivalents.
  • Develop and manage tools/scripts for schema and data migration (using tools like pgloader, AWS DMS, or custom ETL).
  • Benchmark performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations in PostgreSQL.
  • Work closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure compatibility and minimal disruption during migration.
  • Perform validation and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy and integrity post-migration.
  • Document database architecture, migration steps, and performance benchmarks.
  • Establish monitoring, backups, and failover strategies for PostgreSQL in production.
  • Provide guidance on best practices in PostgreSQL for ongoing development and scalability.


This role is hybrid - x3/week required on-site
