Int. Data Analyst to support market data analytics and analyze and interpret trends in data sets for a large banking client - 66818-1


Duration: 18 months (possibility of extension or conversion)

Location: Downtown Toronto - Hybrid (1-3 days in office weekly)


Role Mandate: This group manages market data analytics and provisioning services for the same for the bank. They are looking to hire a contractor for to assist with ad hoc request volumes across the team. Outgoing candidates who are comfortable with internal and external engagement are suitable for this dynamic role. This team is made up of 4 individuals who are part of a larger market data team of up to 40 people. They are a collaborative team who have regular touchpoints and weekly meetings.


Must Have Skills:

  • 3+ years as a Data Analyst working with marketing data/large data sets
  • Power BI experience (analyzing data, report creation)
  • MS Office Suite (especially Outlook and Excel - intermediate experience, able to run functions and formulas, no macros needed)
  • Banking/FI experience


Nice to Have Skills:

  • Understands complete Software Development Life Cycle and can apply the applicable portions of the ‘Feasibility,’ ‘Requirements,” and ‘Analysis’ phases.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs onboarding, offboarding, adds and change requests as requested by line managers for Market Data services.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in data sets.
  • Proactively monitors group mailbox to ensure timely resolution of all issues, and assigns and escalates as necessary.
  • Triages and re-allocates service requests to appropriate team members through RPM (Request Procurement Manager)
  • Assists in preparing, maintaining and upholding procedures for provisioning of Market Data Services.
  • Liaises with suppliers to support the provisioning of Market Data Services.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements to the provisioning methods and systems.
  • Creates instruction manuals / How to guides and other documentation.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Creates documentation to ensure the supportability of analyses and KPI’s.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filters and “cleans” data, and reviews supplier reports for uploads in the Market Data Database.
  • Remains alert to new techniques for insights, analytics, and data visualization, and devises new ways of applying them.
  • Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency.
  • Facilitates discussions and follows a structured approach to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate and manage requirements with stakeholders.
  • Provides analytical support and insights.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen business analysis capability, such as: sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across BMO.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
