Int. Technical Writer to review, test and edit products to ensure they are compliant with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA)

Our public sector client is looking for an Intermediate Technical Writer to review, test and edit products to ensure they are compliant with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA).

The client has developed a suit of products that need additional review, testing and edits to make sure they meet the ACA and ensure a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities.

Tasks Include:

• Reviewing and editing product text to support readability (e.g., font size, spacing, etc.)
• Reviewing and editing product content to support logical flow/layout (e.g., headings, order of slides, etc.)
• Reviewing and editing product images to ensure the use of alternative text, which must be simple, clear and concise
• Review and editing presentation products, including PowerPoint, so that the reading order in each slide/page is logical and will support text-to-speech software
• Review, testing and editing products for colour contrast so that products align with the minimum level AA requirements under WCAG
• Reviewing, testing and editing products to support their use by different types and ranges of disability, as well as with different assistive technologies (such as screen readers).

Must Have:

• 6+ years of experience as a Technical Writer
• 4+ years of experience with WCAG, WET, and the Digital Accessibility toolkit

Nice to Have:

• Experience working at large organizations (1,000+ employees)
