Our national retail client is looking for a Junior Data Scientist to develop ML models and algorithms using Python and SQL to generate insights for the centralized data office - 28799

Location: Mississauga (on site Tuesdays + Thursdays)

Duration: 5 month contract to start

Work hours: 37.5 hours a week

Scope: The data office is seeking a data scientist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in data engineering, model metrics, machine learning, and MLOps. The successful candidate will use their skills to derive attribution to help optimize pricing strategies. This is an end to end Data Scientist role where the candidate will be responsible for project execution from requirements gathering to production.

Responsibilities:

• Collect, clean, and transform data from diverse sources to provide meaningful insights.
• Develop, validate, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
• Apply data mining and statistical techniques to large datasets to find actionable insights.
• Work with teams to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to understand the data and develop hypotheses.
• Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Must Haves:

• Python and its primary data science libraries
• SQL - Database management
• Exp building machine learning models and algorithms
• Experience visualizing results to share with stakeholders.
• Experience in data preprocessing, data exploration, and feature engineering.

Nice to Have:

• MLOps
• Exp with cloud services, specifically Vertex AI and GCP BigQuery
• Experience with forecasting and clustering techniques.
• Experience in the retail industry.
