Our public sector client is seeking a Senior BI Analyst to create Power BI visualizations by extensive manual datasets using SQL and Power Queries and present insights

This is a 12-months contract to start with possibilities of additional 2 1-year renewals. Hybrid working model: 2 days/week on-site in Burnaby. 36.25 hrs/week.

Must Have:

• 7+ years with Data Analysis; Data Profiling, Data Modelling
• On-premise EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) reusable framework design and implementation
• Advanced Power BI Service configurations such as Power BI DataFlow and DataMart
• SQL
• Designing and building data pipelines and ETL packages including:
• M Query
• Dax Language
• Power Query
• Dashboards and reports with Power BI Desktop
• Troubleshoot day-to-day data warehouse issues
• Development experience with technologies including SQL Server, REST API, OLAP cubes, BI analytic tools

Nice to Have:

• Azure DevOps to manage projects is preferred
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is a plus

Responsibilities:

The Business Intelligence Analyst will work in collaboration with Business Strategy and Improvement Team and will focus on:

• Translating business requirements into technical specifications
• Data profiling
• Source data analysis with SQL or applicable tools
• Business Analysis
• Designing and developing the data analytics (data warehouse, data lake ODS, data modelling, Power BI security, Power BI workspace) reusable framework
• Designing data models based on technical specifications
• Exploring in-depth Power BI features for advanced analytics which requires customizations like DataFlow & DataMart
• Designing and building data pipelines and ETL packages including:
• M Query
• Dax Language
• Power Query
• Dashboards and reports with Power BI Desktop
• Troubleshoot day-to-day data warehouse issues
